Seditious!

From page N8, The Star, Monday 13 October 2008:-

CHERAS UMNO STARTS FUND FOR UTUSAN

KUALA LUMPUR: The Cheras Umno division has started a fund to help Utusan Malaysia defend itself against a RM30mil defamation lawsuit filed by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

Kicking off the fund with a RM20,000 contribution, division head Datuk Syed Ali Al Habshee said the Tabung Azan would also be used to assist mosques and suraus that needed money to buy loudspeakers for the purpose of the azan (call to prayer).

“Teresa has challenged the honour of Malays by suing Utusan Malaysia as it is a newspaper owned by the Malays.

“Challenging the Malays is similar to challenging Umno,” he said in urging other divisions to contribute to the fund.

On Thursday, Kok sued Utusan Melayu Sdn Bhd and the paper’s columnist Zaini Hassan over an article that allegedly defamed her.

Kok was said to have petitioned a mosque in Puchong to reduce the volume for the azan, something which she has strongly denied.

The mosque has also stated she was not involved in such a move.

Syed Ali said questioning the azan meant questioning the honour of Malays and Islam.

********************

WHO is urging the Malays and UMNO to take up a blind racist stand against Teresa Kok in particular and the non-Malay community in general?

WHO is questioning the azan?

WHO is questioning the honour of Malays and Islam in Malaysia?

WHO is playing with fire with the not-so-subtle loudspeaker agenda?

WHO? WHO? WHO?

After Ahmad Ismail, now we have SYED ALI AL HABSHEE.

WHO next?

The fire is being stoked and fanned in Peninsular Malaysia.

And the likes of Koh Tsu Koon, Ong, Ong & Ong will just stand back and watch in silence?

Is it desperation or sheer stupidity?

What a shameful piece of revelation ...

It is Datuk Shah Rukh Khan

MALACCA, Friday 10 October 2008:

Bollywood idol Shah Rukh Khan is a Datuk. The heartthrob will be receiving his Datukship from the Malacca Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob in conjunction with his birthday tomorrow. Listed as an artiste from Dreamz Unlimited in the list of recipients, Shah Rukh will be receiving the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM).

He is among 77 recipients of the title.

Shah Rukh, 43, is a highly acclaimed Indian actor who works in Bollywood films, as well as film producer and television host.

He has starred in several box-office movies and won awards throughout his career.

********************

What is the purpose of the above exercise?

To show that Malaysia BOLEH?

Do you know, we have REAL heroes who continue to be treated like dirt by the Government of Malaysia under the leadership of UMNO dressed in Barisan Nasional colours?

Read this posting by blogger 7th Rangers :-

It is sad that Malaysia treats some of it's soldiers shoddily

about the heartfelt story of Police Inspector/Army Captain Mukhtiar Singh s/o Sodagar Singh.

What an utter SHAME!!!

But the saddest part is, do the leaders from UMNO even CARE?

Murugiah to Syed Hamid: It IS my business

By CHRISTINA TAN

KLANG: Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department T. Murugiah has hit back at Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar for asking him not to “interfere” in his ministry.

Murugiah said he was surprised to hear such comments from a senior minister because he was merely doing his duty - attending to complaints and solving problems.

“His statement asking me not to interfere in other people’s affairs is asking me and 270 staff in the Public Complaints Bureau to close shop.

“The bureau has received an average of 180 complaints about each ministry from January to August, and how can I do my job if I can’t ‘interfere’ in another ministry?” he said.

“The Public Complaints Bureau is above all ministries when it comes to handling complaints,” he said after visiting SJK (T) Batu Ampat in Jalan Kota Raja here on Thursday.

Syed Hamid was reported as saying that it was inappropriate for Murugiah to interfere in the affairs of another ministry.

He also said that Murugiah’s action in speaking on behalf of Seputeh MP Teresa Kok on complaints she was not served proper meals while in detention under the Internal Security Act (ISA) was akin to being a “spokesman for the Opposition.”

Murugiah added that Syed Hamid should talk to him directly instead of making comments publicly.

“I’m trying to do something good for the general public, treating everyone fairly regardless whether the complaints are from the Government, the Opposition or members of the public.

“As a junior minister, I will always accept with a open heart if he (Syed Hamid) would like to guide me or show me the best way to do my job,” he said.

This is the second time Syed Hamid has hit out at his Barisan Nasional colleagues for “interfering” with his ministry.

Earlier this month, he slammed Barisan leaders for criticising his decision to detain three civilians - including Kok - under the ISA.

********************

Now, if only we have personalities like T. Murugiah in Gerakan and MCA.

Oh!! I forgot!!

MCA used to have someone by the name of Ong something who dared to stand up to a certain keris-waving UMNO minister many moons ago.

But then, he decided to run for the top party post, and in the process, probably had to hang up his boxers for something more uncomfortable and suffocating.

As for Gerakan, I can only say that it takes one Ahmad Ismail to bury them 6 ft under.

Take it from T. Murugiah; if you can't speak up, you might as well close shop.

Barisan Nasional Government a disgrace

A letter published in the NST today should put our Barisan Nasional Government to shame but we all know that this is what happens when agenda Ketuanan is the order of the day.

WHAT MORE CAN I DO TO IMPRESS?
by T.H.L.
Malacca

I SCORED 11 A1s and an A1 for 1119 English. In the Penilaian Menengah Rendah examinations, I was among the top students at national level. I have consistently been the top student throughout primary and secondary school.

For co-curricular activities, I scored 9.65 out of 10 marks. I held various posts in school, including the president of the Student Council, president of the Math and Science Society, secretary of the Tennis Club, and treasurer of the Scout movement. I have also received the Principal's Award.

At the national level, I led the school team to win the National Science Challenge. Besides that, I am also a King Scout. I was also a school debater. I obtained a Gold Certificate in Olympiad Physics and High Distinction for the National Chemistry Quiz.

I applied to do Matriculation, a Public Services Department award and a place at a local university. However, I have been turned down for everything, including a place in Matriculation.

Despite achieving excellent results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations and excelling in co-curricular activities, I did not receive a single offer. What have I done wrong? What more do they want from me?

********************

Over the past few days in casual conversation, I have heard stories that further reinforces the sad state of affairs in our education system.

Case #1 is of a lady lawyer who has a successful private legal practice in Seremban. Her daughter studied in a local premier girls' school and one day the girl was hauled up to the principal's office and given a stern warning for not wearing a tudung nor baju kurung to school.

The lady lawyer went to see the school principal to protest the matter and insisted that it was not part of the Education Ministry's directive that Muslim girls must don the baju kurung and headscarf to school. What shocked her next is the principal telling her to take her girl out of the school if she refused to abide by the principal's rules.

That must have been the last straw for the lady lawyer because not long thereafter, the family packed up their bags and migrated to New Zealand.

Case #2 is of a girl who scored 2A+ and 2A- in her STPM exams and yet unable to get any offers from our public universities to study medicine. Disappointed, she sought the help of a local lawyer who wrote to the former deputy Education Minister about her case but the YB must have been too busy to even bother to reply.

Why are we still lamenting about brain drain in our country?

Despite the privileges and quotas yet some Malays are leaving this country and some who have graduated overseas on PSD scholarships refuse to return home. The non-Malays have long given up hope that all they have to do is study hard and the government will help them to achieve their dreams and ambitions.

These are the makings of the Barisan Nasional government that people have voted into power. Hopefully, the day will come soon when all Malaysians will have a second chance to make this country a better place for all of us, whether you are a Melayu or not. And you should bet our hope lies not in BN.

MCA licked and whacked

When even a small fry like Cheras UMNO division head Senator Datuk Syed Ali Al Habshee starts telling MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting to SHUT UP, you wonder how much lower MCA can sink.

For the MCA leaders, if you don't speak up against issues that riled the community, die. To speak up, also die. Either way, they can never win because of, what else, UMNO lah!

So while MCA continue to be obedient little boys and girls and pledge undying loyalty to Barisan Nasional, those Tuan-Tuan Melayu continue to whack them left right and centre for every little speech that is not music to UMNO members' ears.

And we all just sit back and watch in amazement.

Some people are real suckers for boundless humiliation. No wonder people call them dogs. Dogs are known to be so blindly loyal to their owners to the extent of being abused to death without nary a whimper.

Please lar - stop calling yourselves Malaysian CHINESE Association. You are more like Malaysian CHEKAI Association.

MCA members, please read through the interview that The SUN did with Selangor MB Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today. (Extra! Conversations, page 14, The SUN April 17, 2008).

I'll reproduce the relevant part below:-

The SUN:
Can you do without federal funding, since the Rural Development Minister had announced that such funds will go directly to BN appointees in the state?

Tan Sri Khalid:
We are not worried about that. If they channel it to Selangor, the multiplier will still be in Selangor.

But, I don't want to waste my time going to the federal government asking for money because I have enough work on my hands, managing the resources.

I am quite happy if the federal ministers do this because the people will now know that these are the people who should not be there. So, over time, they will be cast aside.

The more they continue to do this, the better we are politically.

Let me say to you - these people, they are in Umno ... one example is this pig farming issue. The report shows that MCA proposed this and then Umno worked with them, saying "let's do it".

Nothing to do with racial reasons: it is socially good and economically viable to have a clean and modern pig farming industry.

Now here comes a chap who wants to champion Umno who ignores MCA and now says it cannot be done. Can you imagine?

If MCA continues to lick Umno I don't know what level of dignity they have!

This is the partner that they have. Can you imagine this? And none of the MCA leaders are wiling to speak up.

And here Umno says forget about the pig farmers, forget about the Chinese, even though they are in a weak position. I am enjoying this. It is a good thing for us.

Let the Chinese and the Indians open their eyes to what sorts of fellows they are dealing with. Hey, it's true you know.

If I were an MCA man who promoted this, and now I am being betrayed, what am I going to tell the other Chinese? This is what people tell me and I say promote it so society knows that this is what you have experienced the last 50 years.

Shameful, isn't it? Being exposed like that.

MCA will thus continue to lick Umno as long as they remain in Barisan Nasional. Because that's just the way it works in Barisan Nasional. Because Umno will tell them this: "Kalau you tak suka, you boleh keluar!" To which they will respond with heads down and tails behind their backs.

Is NST learning to write from the heart?

This front page editorial from the NaSTy paper today speaks like one of us, eh?

The NST says: GET ON WITH THE JOB

IT’S been five weeks since the general election. The Barisan Nasional was returned to power, albeit with a smaller majority and the loss of five states.

Despite the shock of the result, it was still a mandate that no one could argue with, not even Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his wildest allegations of electoral fraud. But what has Umno, the leading partner of the coalition and largest party in parliament, been doing since March 8?

Bickering, pointing fingers, baying for vengeance and doing everything imaginable except rolling up its sleeves and getting down to the work of governing.
Enough is enough.

People are getting fed up with Umno’s moaning and groaning, the political wayang and sandiwara its cast of characters is playing up and down the country.

The truth is that the people have long been disgusted with the kind of boorish, loutish behaviour that Umno leaders had exemplified because of their grip on power since independence in 1957.

Brandishing the kris was hurtful to the non-Malays but the party leadership did nothing to take the Umno Youth chief to task for the menacing and insulting gesture. Which was why he was emboldened to repeat it and provide extra impetus for the Chinese and Indians to abandon the BN at the polls.

It also did not go unnoticed that the leadership put up with the racist and inflammatory rhetoric of the delegates at the televised 2006 Umno general assembly.

Then there was the desecration of the temple under the watch of the then Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo which did so much to outrage the Hindus throughout the country and turn them against the ruling coalition. And Dr Khir had the cheek to award a broom to a local council president, when neither he nor the party president could control the warlords who held the party to ransom over the choice of candidates, and stabbed the party in the back when they did not approve of the candidates.

Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is now paying for these and other acts of omission, including the undeliverable promises of change that he made when he first became prime minister in 2003.

Every other day, he has had to deflect attacks by party members and ex-leaders who conveniently have absolved themselves of any fault. But every day that he is sidetracked by party bickering is another day affairs of state are neglected — the nation and the people are the losers.

Abdullah has said that he has got the message; he has accepted responsibility for the unkept pledges; and this time, he vows he will deliver on his promises and set the country in order before he retires.

That is, in fact, the verdict of his mandate, and he should be allowed to get on with it. But all the worms crawling out of the Umno woodwork — especially the retired and those with shelf lives past due who have found new breath in their calls for a party coup — won’t let him.

They don’t get it. Abdullah is not solely to be blamed and everything will not suddenly be all well again if he goes. Umno from the roots to the high branches all have to share the blame for their silence, their greed, arrogance and shenanigans that have turned off voters. So stop the navel-gazing and infighting.

If they have to fight among themselves, at least have the decency to keep it civilised and behind closed doors. They don’t have to drag the whole country through their infernal politicking.

There are more important things than private peeves and settling of scores.
Neither the brewing crisis over soaring food prices nor other major issues are going to wait for Umno to put its own house in order. Now is the time for the grand old party to move on, do the things its leaders have promised and show that it still has what it takes to lead the nation.

********************

Looks like our mainstream media is also keen to join in the fray. Let's see who shuts up first.

Updated: Oh, I like this photo so much that I'm giving it a thumbs up by sharing it here.

Semuanya OK!

A public disgrace called UMNO

Are we all gonna sit back and allow those UMNO sore losers to cause chaos in our country?

They are making a spectacle of themselves. The internal bickering and calls for their own president to step down as Prime Minister - what a shamble!! All those public demonstrations in Penang, Selangor, Perak and Terengganu - what does it say about UMNO?

And now, they are even making a mockery of the Rukunegara. Di manakah kesetiaan mereka kepada Raja dan Negara?

And to MCA, MIC, Gerakan and all the other component parties in Sabah & Sarawak, is this the kind of leadership you guys kow-tow to?

You people are just content to watch from the sidelines while UMNO goes on a rampage.

Shame on you if peace and stability in this country is destroyed because no one dares to stop all this nonsense!

UMNO in numbers game

The new cabinet reveals very interesting distribution of seats (power!!) among BN component parties:-

UMNO 22 ministers + 16 deputies = 38
MCA 4m + 6d = 10
PBB 1m + 3d = 4
MIC 1m + 2d = 3
SUPP 1m + 2d = 3
UPKO 1m
PBS 1m
Gerakan 2d
SPDP 2d
PRS 2d
PBRS 1d
LDP 1d
Outsider 1m

And do you think Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen really got a promotion when she was made the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development as hailed by the MCA?

After you consider Datuk Seri Shahrizat's appointment as Special Adviser to the PM for Women and Social Development Affairs with ministerial status, that is.

If you look at the numbers above, it is a crying shame the way UMNO is given so much "face" by their so-called "partners" in Barisan Nasional, in spite of all their leadership failures.

Menyampah betul!!

It's the Keris, Stupid!

Look who's talking today?

BN must get rid of denial syndrome: Hishammuddin
By : K. Harinderan

KUALA LUMPUR, Tues:

Barisan Nasional has to rid itself of the denial syndrome and accept the people’s choice in the election, Umno Youth head Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said today. He said the BN should now work harder to meet the needs of the people.

“MPs must now look at their self worth and effectiveness as this is critical in serving the public better in light of the election results,” he added.

Hishamuddin, the MP for Sembrong and the Education Minister in the previous Cabinet, was speaking to reporters after launching the ICT Conference and Exhibition 2008.

Maybe he needs to keep this framed picture on his desk as a daily reminder:-

Fear Factor

Used to be the spectre of "May 13" works like magic in previous election campaigns.

Perhaps this time, they need to increase the fear factor a notch by adding on another favourite bogeyman, this one with the added distinction of being well-understood by everyone from China to India.

From theSUN, page 8 November 2, 2007.

... Muhammad Taib especially asked Chinese voters in Kelantan not to support PAS or be used by the party to gain publicity.

On the ramifications of Kelantan's Chinese supporting PAS again, he said for one, PAS leaders could go to other states and tell the Chinese there not to shun the party as Kelantan's Chinese were not.

"Second, this would increase the pressure on Umno, and to counter PAS' publicity blitz," Umno may be forced to implement more Islamisation measures to retain or get more Malay support.

"If Umno does that, it may cause more dissatisfaction among non-bumiputras, or even BN component parties." (Emphasis in bold are mine.)

Anyone else wants to jump on the Islamophobia bandwagon?

I for one will take up the challenge to vote for PAS anytime just to dispel such silly notions.

CSR the Malaysian way

I haven't been reading a lot of blogs and online news lately due to various reasons.

But I want to make a side comment on something that has ruffled not a few feathers concerning the government's requirement for PLCs to show their commitment to corporate social responsibility ala Ketuanan Melayu as succinctly put by Aisehman in his blog entry titled "Bursa Melayu."

This is one of those things that we should really be ashamed of. But the shameful part is that some people JUST DON'T. Or rather, the people who came up with this idea don't.

Greed is like cancer. It grows and grows out of control until it dies along with the host it feeds on.

And this is nothing but SHEER GREED.

We don't tear our hairs out that our government do not practise good CSR in terms of employing more non-Malays into middle and top management positions in the public sector.

So, when our government start defining CSR as extending the handout policies to the private sector, something truly sad is happening to our society. To what it means to be a Malaysian.

I just feel so ashamed.

Apa saya peduli? Merdeka!

I can't belief he actually said this (as reported in The SUN today at page 2):-

"It's NOT MY NATURE TO INTERFERE in such matters. What is required is JUSTICE."
(My emphasis in BOLD.)

So the hue and cry over the case of THAT UMNO guy bold enough to snub HRH The Sultan of Selangor is now CLOSED? Semua OK?

BERSIH, CEKAP DAN AMANAH?

Frankly, I'd expect someone to be mighty pissed-off by the whole shameful episode. These days, the little and big napoleons are more powerful than kings and emperors.

And of course, he who-need-not-be-named is celebrating MERDEKA in the very real sense of the word.

Celebrating 50 years of shallowness

From the SUN, page 10 (Wed, 16 May 2007):-

Chinese are patriotic and loyal: Najib
Press Digest by Kong See Hoh

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak says he believes the Chinese in the country are patriotic but are not good at showing it.

He said there was no doubting the Chinese's loyalty for the country, but stressed that they must know how to express it, such as by taking part in various government-sponsored activities and celebrations.

... Asked for his comments on the criticisms every now and then by certain politicians, and even ministers, that Chinese are not patriotic, Najib said Barisan Nasional leaders no longer harbour such thinking.

He said he has many Chinese friends and gets along well with the Chinese.

On unity, the deputy prime minister said Malaysians now are more united than they were 50 years ago. There is also more interaction among the races now than before, he said.

He said nowadays, the emphasis is not on the differences among the races because when Malaysians make friends with fellow Malaysians they do not see whether the other party is Malay, Chinese or Indian; rather they look at their character and personalities.

"We look at (other people's) personal qualities, more than (their) skin colour or religious beliefs."

... (Blogger's emphasis in bold.)

********************

107 days to go before our country celebrates 50 years of Merdeka.

Timely reminder to take the Jalur Gemilang out from the back of the closet, give it a good wash and prepare to wave it before another round of "threats" start coming your way to do your patriotic duty.

It happens every year, and this year is not going to be the exception, more so because some people feel so emotional about the half-century mark.

Frankly, how much does it cost to get the elephant off your backs, huh? I mean, they don't really care if you mean it, just DO it!

And, Najib is trying hard to be politically correct in his speech targetted at the Chinese community.

But he is really telling the truth about how unity is so shallowly defined in the Malaysian context, especially what is demanded of you from the Barisan Nasional government.

When you take the economics and politics out of it, Malaysians are great with each other, just as they are warm and friendly to a non-Malaysian who seeks their hand in friendship.

It only gets ugly when the economic pie is up for grabs.

When elections are round the corner and votes need to be secured by hook or by crook.

When economic and politicial survival of a dominant group necessitates the trumpeting of communal cries for individual agendas not necessarily conducive to national unity in the long run. Heck, some of those demands are even suicidal to the long term survival and competitiveness of their people.

But who cares, right?

Being shallow is not a sin.

Being stupid and incorrigible is nothing to be ashamed of. Being mediocre can get you far in this country that rely on dubious standards to measure achievements and success.

Despite coming close to 50 years of Merdeka, we have not achieved much progress in demanding higher standards for ourselves and our country.

Maybe it is time to activate a National Agenda for all Malaysians to take a good hard look at ourselves and start preparing for something that is truly worth celebrating 50 years from now.

Celebrating MPs who degrade women, because YOU put THEM there!

Only in chauvinistic Bodohland.

This must be a sign of the times. Women are fair game for all kinds of jokes, especially those that go below the belt.

There is clear and present evidence that BN parliamentarians have lost their sense of decency in the august house. Dirty jokes are no longer a dirty word, and women in BN don't count, do they?

With nary a whimper of protest from any female BN representatives in attendance (see, they even silently agree that their opinions don't matter in the chauvinistic world of Barisan Nasional) ... well, I just don't know anymore. Do you?

Have a look at the following piece of news.

On Wednesday morning, the debate turned into a ruckus when the Parliament House roof sprang leaks in several parts during a downpour.

In the heat of the debate and shouts over the "leaky" Parliament House, which had undergone an RM80 million renovation about two years ago, one phrase went unnoticed.

Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah) then reviewed the video recording of the proceedings and felt humiliated. She then filed a motion this morning to refer the two BN MPs (one for making the sexist remarks and the other for supporting the remarks) - Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) and Datuk Mohd Said Yusof (BN-Jasin) - to the committee.

The recording exposed Bung as saying: "Mana bocor, Batu Gajah pun tiap-tiap bulan pun bocor juga." ("Where is the leak? Batu Gajah MP also leaks every month.")

- The SUN, 11 May 2007

Do you think Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin is witty and funny?

What about his friend "close one eye" MP Datuk Mohd Said Yusof from Jasin, who echoed his support? Are these wonderful examples of our Yang Berhormats from Barisan Nasional?

And look. There's more!

When a motion to refer the 2 MPs to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee was rejected by the Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib, BN MPs see it fit to celebrate with a round of table-thumping and cheers.

Unbelievable, you say? You better believe it! This is the new era of Wawasan 2020 under the leadership of Pak Lah.

Expect more to come your way, after the next general election, going by the kind of people Barisan Nasional sees fit to represent your interests.

These BN wakil rakyats will continue to SHOCK and AWE you with amazing stuff coming from their uncouth tongues and minds.

That's right. Do like the female BN representatives do in such situations.

Take whatever is dished out to you by the chauvinistic guys lying down because you people VOTED them in, didn't you?

Hahaha - NOT!

Mahathir mocks BN supporters

A lot of people say that Tun Dr Mahathir has lost his credibility to speak up against the current administration due to his less than rosy record as the previous Prime Minister of Malaysia.

But I don't think so.

He remains one person who can speak vehemently against the government and the leaders, sometimes even resorting to personal attacks, without having to worry about the I.S.A. being used to shut him up.

That itself is enough reason to sit up and listen to some of the things he have to say. Yes, only some of it and listening does not mean that we have to agree with him either.

But I happen to agree with what he said in his interview with online news portal Malaysiakini, which is why I am putting an excerpt here for my future reference.

In the interview, which was released on Malaysiakini yesterday, Tun Dr Mahathir said: 'Unless you send a signal to the government that, 'Look, if you don't behave yourself, you may not get my vote at the next election,' then the government will say, 'You see? The people are voting for us. We are doing well.''

He added: 'If you vote (for Barisan) because you get a lot of money or because you get a lot of projects, you may get a rotten government which uses money in order to buy your vote.'

He lamented that Barisan supporters would vote blindly for the ruling coalition.

'They don't care whether it is a good government or not. We are Barisan people. We vote Barisan. No assessment, no study. We vote (for Barisan) because we must. That's why I say a country deserves the government it gets.'

I know, this is nothing new.

Which is why we all look to Ijok to see how smug the Barisan government is going to feel about themselves, ahead of the next general election.

Looks like we are going to carry the monkeys behind our backs for a long long time to come, not that we have any right to complain because well, we put them there, didn't we?

Just like we put up with a lot of other things in Malaysia, Barisan Nasional has become somewhat like the old favourite pillow or blanket you can't bear to throw away even though it's getting stinky and mouldy.

A Racist Joke for Ijok

The heat is really getting intensely hot in Ijok.

I think it has fried the brains of even rational and educated men, turning them into a fine example of Bullshitting Nincompoops.

This joker demonstrated today how logic has flown out the door in his rhetoric for the political masters of the day:-

(The Star, page N8, 25 April 2007)

It's no joke in Ijok
Comment by Wong Chun Wai

(blah blah blah - You can read the full post in the link above)

I just want to highlight 2 things which baffles me in Mr Wong's commentary.

1. ... the people of Ijok should vote for Parthiban, not because he is an Indian or a Malay, but because he is a Malaysian.

2. Likewise, no one should be voting for Khalid because he is a Malay as it would be a seriously unhealthy political trend.

Now I have 2 questions to ask Mr Wong.

1. Are you saying that since Parthiban is a BN candidate, he now wears the "MALAYSIAN" label on his forehead and voters in Ijok should dismiss the fact that he is an Indian, unless they are racists?

2. Are you also saying that since Khalid is an opposition candidate, he should not be viewed as a "MALAYSIAN" and voters in Ijok are racists if they vote for him because he is a Malay?

Either way, this is all about RACE, isn't it?

If the above rhetoric by an editor of a mainstream newspaper in Malaysia is anything to go by, I am bracing myself for the worse when the next general election is announced.

The race card is well and truly alive in BN politics and it's not ever going to go away judging by what we are seeing today.
