Perak Umno: Act on men who admitted having illicit sex

IPOH: Perak Umno Youth wants the state Religious Department to act against Perak Tengah district councillor Zul Hassan and businessman Fairul Azrim Ismail after they admitted having accepted offers to have sex with Chinese nationals.

The department could take action against the two men based on their confessions contained in statements they made when lodging a complaint against one Mohamad Imran Abdullah, said Perak Umno Youth chief Zainol Fadzi Paharudin yesterday.

Zul, who is facing a corruption charge over a development project at Seri Iskandar in Perak Tengah, had lodged a complaint together with Fairul against Mohamad Imran on Tuesday.

Mohamad Imran is the complainant in a corruption case in which Zul and four others are the accused.

Zul had disclosed that an Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) officer claimed to have pictures of him having sex with a Chinese national.

He had been quoted as saying “what is important is we did not ask for the women. He supplied them to us. If people sedekah (donate), don’t you want to accept the sedekah?

Fairul, who was picked up for questioning but later released on ACA bail, had admitted having had sex with a Chinese woman.

Fairul had also claimed that Mohamad Imran had organised and encouraged him into committing a sinful act by providing him with a woman from China at the Sri Sayang Apartment in Batu Feringghi in Penang on Aug 14.

Perak PKR admits likening sex to alms is wrong choice of word
(New Straits Times Online, Friday 26 September 2008)

IPOH: Perak Parti Keadilan Rakyat deputy chairman Zulkifli Ibrahim said the statement by a member describing sexual favours as alms was a slip of the tongue and for want of a better word.
“The mistake was in the wrong use of word. It was not meant to suggest that sex is a form of alms. That is all I can say,” he told reporters here today.

Perak Tengah District Council member Zul Hassan yeterday said the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) had trapped him into having sex with a woman from China.

Another PKR member, Fairul Azrim Ismail, also made a similar admission and claimed he was also trapped by the ACA.

Zulkifli urged the Perak Islamic Department to investigate the reports lodged by Zul and Fairul on Sept 23 under Section 29 of the Perak Syariah Crime Enactment 1992.
Under the section, those found organising, coaxing or encouraging vice was committing an offence.

“The Perak Islamic department must take action to show that it is serious in implementing the criminal enactment passed by the state government,” he said.

Meanwhile, Perak Mufti Datuk Seri Harussani Zakaria said Zul’s statement showed his ignorance of Islamic law and that it was a stupid act of self-defence.

Fairul had been detained by ACA in connection with a corruption charge and accepting sexual favour in the Seri Iskandar project but was released on Aug 21.

Zul and Perak Development Corporation technician Ruslan Sahat, State Executive Councillors from PKR, Rtd Capt Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu and Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi and PKR former Bota state assemblyman Rtd Capt Usaili Alias, are facing 16 counts of corruption.

The case has been fixed for hearing in the Sessions Court on Feb 11 next year.

Murugiah to Syed Hamid: It IS my business

By CHRISTINA TAN

KLANG: Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department T. Murugiah has hit back at Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar for asking him not to “interfere” in his ministry.

Murugiah said he was surprised to hear such comments from a senior minister because he was merely doing his duty - attending to complaints and solving problems.

“His statement asking me not to interfere in other people’s affairs is asking me and 270 staff in the Public Complaints Bureau to close shop.

“The bureau has received an average of 180 complaints about each ministry from January to August, and how can I do my job if I can’t ‘interfere’ in another ministry?” he said.

“The Public Complaints Bureau is above all ministries when it comes to handling complaints,” he said after visiting SJK (T) Batu Ampat in Jalan Kota Raja here on Thursday.

Syed Hamid was reported as saying that it was inappropriate for Murugiah to interfere in the affairs of another ministry.

He also said that Murugiah’s action in speaking on behalf of Seputeh MP Teresa Kok on complaints she was not served proper meals while in detention under the Internal Security Act (ISA) was akin to being a “spokesman for the Opposition.”

Murugiah added that Syed Hamid should talk to him directly instead of making comments publicly.

“I’m trying to do something good for the general public, treating everyone fairly regardless whether the complaints are from the Government, the Opposition or members of the public.

“As a junior minister, I will always accept with a open heart if he (Syed Hamid) would like to guide me or show me the best way to do my job,” he said.

This is the second time Syed Hamid has hit out at his Barisan Nasional colleagues for “interfering” with his ministry.

Earlier this month, he slammed Barisan leaders for criticising his decision to detain three civilians - including Kok - under the ISA.

Now, if only we have personalities like T. Murugiah in Gerakan and MCA.

Oh!! I forgot!!

MCA used to have someone by the name of Ong something who dared to stand up to a certain keris-waving UMNO minister many moons ago.

But then, he decided to run for the top party post, and in the process, probably had to hang up his boxers for something more uncomfortable and suffocating.

As for Gerakan, I can only say that it takes one Ahmad Ismail to bury them 6 ft under.

Take it from T. Murugiah; if you can't speak up, you might as well close shop.

Mahathir's ugliness

First we have Ahmad Ismail.
Then we have Khir Toyo.
And now, we have Mahathir.

"Openly the Malays have not attacked Chinese racialism as manifested by their practical rejection of the use of the National language, their rejection of the National schools, their Malaysian Malaysia slogan. If they do it would be muted and certainly not as blatant as non-Malay attacks against Malay racialism."

(Excerpt taken from Mahathir Mohamad's blog entry "Malay Unity and Malaysian Unity on 15 September 2008.)

Dr Mahathir, you have gone overboard with this public statement.

You deserve the highest condemnation for instigating racial disharmony in this country.

This one REALLY pisses me off

Sin Chew journalist arrested
Sep 12, 08 9:38pm

Sin Chew Daily journalist Tan Hoon Cheng has been arrested today under the Internal Security Act at 8.30pm at her home in Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

She is the second person to be arrested today under the tough security law which allows for detention without trial. It is learnt that she has been taken by the police to the Penang police headquarters.

Tan had reported that local Umno chieftain Ahmad Ismail had allegedly said that Chinese Malaysians are “squatters” in the country. Her report sparked a nationwide outcry, resulting in Ahmad being suspended by Umno for three years after an emergency meeting on Wednesday.

Sin Chew had three days ago came out strongly to defend Tan, who was accused by Ahmad for misreporting his comments. It is unclear whether Ahmad, who remained defiant despite being slapped with the suspension, has also been detained.
